The brothers of the chapter elected the following brothers to the Executive Board for 2024:

  • President – Tyler Ross (Billy Planic until April 2023)
  • Vice President – Lucian Dean (Tyler Ross until April 2023)
  • Vice President Health and Safety – Ben Sullivan
  • Secretary – Jimmy Brokaw- Stanley
  • Treasurer – Mitch Wilson
  • Assistant Treasurer – Brendon Doerr
  • Marshal – Jacob Cubins
  • Recruitment Chairman – Nathan Belack
  • Scholarship Chairman – Jack Hare

The chapter adopted procedures for approving Honorary memberships and voted to unanimously award an Honorary Membership into the Zeta Alpha Chapter for Alumnus Brother Richard Elder. He served as Grand Chapter President when discussions were initiated to recolonize the ZA Chapter and helped moved the project to the top of the expansion list. He also served the Zeta Alpha Chapter as a Field Executive in 1972/1973. He has been an advocate for Zeta Alpha throughout the recolonization process.

Alumni Board member Bariski has been put in contact with President Planic, Immediate Past President Koley and Vice President Ross (who is a manager on the SRU Basketball team) to arrange a meeting with Roberta Page the SRU Athletic Director. This is in response to correspondence she sent about the article that appeared in the Rock Magazine highlighting Advisor Krepinevich and a letter he sent her about Theta Chi’s previous involvement in Rock Athletics. It is hoped that a relationship can be struck to gain support from Rock Athletics for Theta Chi and recruitment and at the same time Theta Chi can provide some support for Rock Athletics. During those discussions, we were able to create a list of over 30 brothers who had been involved in Rock Athletics at one time.

Below are pictures from the event. The new chapter officers including President Billy Planic, Vice President Health and Safety Ben Sullivan, Recruitment Chairman Nathan Belack and Chapter Advisor Krepinevich attended the January Officers training conducted in Indianapolis, IN January 6-8, 2023. Marshal Jacob Cubins was not able to attend due to a case of strep throat. But was able to travel to Indianapolis on March 4-5 to attend a make up session.

Exec Board/Officer Advisors Retreat

The Executive Board/Chapter Officer Advisors Retreat was held on January 21, 2023 at 244 Elm Street in Slippery Rock at the home of members of the chapter. Officer Advisors, Angelucci, Pennell, Jackson and Krepinevich attended and the entire chapter Executive Board. Items highlighted at the training conferences in early January were a big part of the training. Additionally, time was spent with many nuts-and-bolts items concerning the chapter’s operation and documentation of those operations. The biggest part of the day was spent planning visible effective programming the chapter can conduct to enhance visibility and to involve members. A fast start with freshmen pledges and the recruitment of upperclassmen for the spring semester was also the priority.

As noted, 244 Elm Street was home to the training and has become home to the chapter. Currently 3 of the 4 residents are Theta Chis and 3 of the 4 freshmen who are pledging plan to sign contracts for the house for the fall filling the house with Theta Chis. What this means is that for the next 3 years Theta Chi will have a home base for chapter meetings, rituals and functions. This seems to be their plan for now related to any “housing needs” for the chapter. Currently, all awards, paddles, and other Theta Chi related memorabilia can be found at this location.

Spring Rush 2023

Chapter members participated in the Activity fair during rush week. Our Marshal, Jacob Cubins, is proud to report on a new pledge class of 4 members for the Spring 2023 Semester. Although our recruitment efforts remain consistent, we hope our new brothers will be able to meet the alumni soon at initiation or at the golf outing. Our current president Billy Planic has been monumental in keeping the chapter organized and functional. Billy is not only laying the groundwork for the Theta Chi Spring Formal but working with Jacob in planning initiation for our newest pledge class.

March 2023

Hello Brothers and Alumni of the Theta Chi Zeta Alpha Chapter!

This semester we have made an earnest effort in keeping active with our Zeta Alpha community. My name is Lucian Dean and I have been appointed chapter Historian. The Historian position is dedicated to keeping track of the History of our chapter and informing others about the ongoing accomplishments we have made during the semester. Tyler Ross , current Vice President, has made significant efforts in Fundraising.

With the assistance of our brothers we have run a successful “Late Night” Waffle Sale that produced around $50. With the resources left over from the event, we strive for further sales in the future.

Giving Day

We would like to remind everyone that March 24, 2023 is SRU Giving Day. We will be participating and any funds raised will help support the chapter’s “operating” fund to support our activities on campus. The Theta Chi option is not yet active so you may want to just put a reminder on your phone for the 24th! Anyone interested in donating on Giving day or even donating early can do so by  selecting the Theta Chi Option! You help will be appreciated.

Here are some highlights:

Nearly 30 percent of the participants were composed of recent graduates or current members which is a testament to a connection that is being made and strengthened between the past and the future of the Zeta Alpha Chapter.

Every attendee on Saturday received a FREE hotdog and drink complements of the Zeta Alpha Alumni Association. Thanks to the efforts of Brother Stephen Pennell with the help of Brothers Mitch Wilson and George Musko for selling 50/50 raffle tickets during the event and with the generosity of those in attendance, we were able to raise $340. Brother Dan Angelucci, who won the raffle, donated $320 of the winnings back to the Alumni Association! Thank you, Brother Dan! The Putting Contest was a huge success with appreciation to Brother Patrick Russell for organizing and donating a $100 gift certificate prize to the winner. The contest was won by Brother Gary Donelli who donated $55 to the Alumni Association aftercompletion.

T-sign Donations

T-Sign Donations Living the Theta Chi Motto “An Assisting Hand” could not be more dramatically displayed through the generous contributions of many Zeta Alpha Alumni and friends of Theta Chi through the purchase of T-Signs to support the Helping Hand Fund that were displayed during the Golf Outing. In 2023, brothers stepped forward to commemorate pledge classes, brothers who had passed to the Chapter Eternal or to commemorate achievements of fellow brothers by purchasing T-signs and direct donations for the 2023 outing! Support was outstanding. Fraternity honors should be given to Alumni Board Members Sky Pederson and Logan Tupper for heading up the effort and for helping us raise $1,500 in tee signs for the event that will be added to the Helping Hand fund to benefit undergraduate Brothers bringing the endowment to almost $32,000.00. A T-sign for Gold and Silver sponsors for significant contributions to the Helping Hand Fund over the years were also displayed at the outing and are displayed here. If you were not able to attend the outing, the t-signs are displayed here for your enjoyment and our appreciation. Again, thank you to all those who contributed.

Here are some photos from the outing

Brothers pictured aboved were recognized with the Golden Guard Award for 50 years of Service to Theta Chi. Additionally Brothers Joe Suprano and Charles Boylan were presented with Theta Chi Citations for thier service to the chapter.

July 13, 2023 : 9:00am – July 16, 2023 – 12:00pm Theta Chi Initiative Academy

Theta Chi’s Initiative Academy is an opportunity to work in a cohort group to focus on brotherhood, professional networking, and growing yourself as a leader. The Initiative Academy has been conducted in “off years” year when the Anniversary Convention and School of Fraternity Practices are NOT held.  However due to COVID-19 the last time the Initiative Academy was held was 2019.

The Initiative academy is held at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and is hosted as the Alpha Iota Chapter house as the center of the activities.

Click the link to learn more about the initiative Academy.

This year Brothers President Tyler Ross, Vice President Lucian Dean and Marshal Jacob Cubins attended. Normally only one representative per chapter can attend but due to vacancies Zeta Alpha took advantage of the ability to send additional attendees. Costs for the event are covered by member dues so it is important to take advantage of these experiences.

The Alumni Board expressed its support and enthusiasm for this event by authorizing up to $150 to reimburse transportation costs as long as receipts are provided.

Brothers who completed the Initiative Academy earned their Resolute Man designation making Brothers Ty, Lucian and Jacob resolute Men #4, #5 and #6 at Zeta Alpha!

We would like to thank Alpha Beta Chapter member, Honorary Zeta Alpha Chapter member and Grand Chapter Secretary Brother Alan Copeland for your support during the event and sharing cigars!

Below are pictures from the event.
