The year began with President Eric beginning a second term as President and the rest of the Executive Board attending the Theta Chi Training in Indianapolis the first week in January, 2020.
On January 18, 2020 our Executive Board met with their counterparts on the ZA Chapter Advisory Board. Discussing everything from upcoming rush plans, to internal chapter operations. We thank the alumni for taking time out of their day to help plan and educate us from an administrative standpoint. Here’s to a good semester! (We had no idea what we were in for with COVID-19 just 2 months away!)
Our President, Eric attended the AFLV Conference in Indianapolis weekend of February 1-2, 2020 along with 8 sorority women and 2 fraternity men from Slippery Rock. Over 3,500 greek undergraduates attended from all across the nation. The conference provided time to network, learn, and discuss ways to improve greek life in every aspect!

164 years nationally. Even in quarantine we can celebrate this incredible day. Happy Founder’s Day to all active and alumni brothers. Thank you to the sororities, fraternities, and campuses that let us operate and share our values with the rest. Here is to many more! 🎂❤️
By March 20 everything on Campus was shut down with no clear idea of when things may re-open this significantly affected the Chapter’s ability to recruit and operate. Unique challenges were addressed and the Chapter did all they could to adapt.
2020 Golf Outing
In these very troubling times we all experienced tough decisions we have had to make to keep our families safe from the Corona Virus. Plans changed, new courses of action, things we have done for many years cancelled to keep us all safe. It is for this reason the Alumni Board made the very difficult decision to cancel the Golf Outing that was originally planned for June 13th. As Alumni President Doug Bull explained, “We cannot take the chance that we may be part of further spreading the virus. We truly believe this is the right thing to do. We were informed that Slippery Rock University has cancelled their fund raising basketball and football golf outings this summer. We were also told they cancelled all camps, tryouts, scheduled activities for the summer. Because of this we feel our decision to cancel this year’s golf outing is the right thing to do in accordance with Slippery Rock University and the State of Pennsylvania guidelines. More importantly if we were to conduct it under the course’s strict requirements the event would not provide the brotherhood opportunity for which it was designed in the first place. But keep your hopes alive. I have already talked to Tam O’Shanter and we have scheduled the 2021 Theta Chi Golf Outing for Saturday June 12th. I wish we did not have to cancel this year’s event but we truly believe it is in the best interests of all brothers.”
Happy Philanthropy Day (August 26, 2020) to the FSL Community. Here is to many more years of helping make a positive impact!
Homecoming 2020
Van Gogh, Picasso, and Monet showed up today for Homecoming Festivities!
October 5, 2020 kicked off SRU’s modified homecoming events and celebrations. The tradition of Paint the Town continued on as brothers socially distanced with proper mask and sanitation requirements to paint the brewery! Big thanks to everyone who helped keep this tradition and more going during this modified school year! Also, thank you to the Brewery for being extremely supportive and letting us paint their windows.
